I must thank this list for the great leads I was given yesterday that led me to a solution
I have had problems with very little acceleration when the engine was cold. I couldn't trace the problem, I was looking at cold start injectors. inlet, AIC etc etc, I even thought I had bought a bit of a Dog. It has only covered 50,000 miles though so should have been fine.
I read something about the heater system using a vacuum.
. There was a small hole on the underside of a plastic connector near the oil filter on the crankcase ventilation. A vacuum hose ran off to the Heater control vacuum reservoir. Once sealed, the car didn't hesitate, drive slowly or stall while in gear, it picks up like a good one now and the idle is so sweet compared to before.
My car is now fantastic. The previous owner obviously couldn't sort the problem thats why they sold a 1983 Turbo with good body, no rust, only 50,000 miles and one owner from new for a mere, wait for it.... £260. Yes I know . It is now just about perfect and I am a happy saab owner (this is my firs Saab and I am quite impressed)
This website has been very helpful. Thanks again and keep the information coming.
