You need at least a 32 oz. ball peen hammer. You must strike the knuckle "smartly" (you really have to hit it.. focus on where you want the hammer to land DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR OTHER HAND). One or two good strikes and it will come out. The ancients who taught me about auto repair would never heat up a front end or suspension part with a torch. The belief was that it would ruin the strength of the metal. It may be because their experience was with English cars....
