actually, pretty easy.
I just did it in an hour + or so. From memory:
1. Drain as best as possible, but given your situation, may have to pop the lower hose to drain completely.
2. Disconnect lower hose from radiator (NO NEED TO REMOVE BOTH ENDS ...)
3. Working up, disconnect two wires connected to fan switch (brass plug on driver's side/top of radiator).
4. Up another inch or so on driver side, disconnect small coolant return line and move to the side.
5. Accross the top of the radiator, remove round lookin' beer can sized thing (brain has left building, can't remember name) by loosening tensioning clip. Be careful, the clip itself can and will come unhooked from the front of the body! ... No need to remove the beer can lookin' thingy, just move carefully forward and rest on front of car.
6. This should expose small torque screw accross front of driver side fan (A/C fan) Carefully remove these 2/3 screws (the bottom SHOULD be slotted for easy pull out) ... remember to disconnect the wiring prior to pulling the fan.
7. I find there is no need to remove the cooling fan (passenger side) if remove the distributor cap and use some care pulling the radiator out.
8. Continuing towards the passenger side, disconnect upper hose at radiator and either bend out of the way or pull the block end and set aside.
9. At this point (if memory serves) radiator is held in by only two bolts at the top of the radiator. Remove those, the CAREFULLY tilt the radiator towards the engine and lift. The bottom is held in by two pins that seat in rubber booties.
Check the condition of the little rubber bushings at the top of the radiator. Depending on where you get yours, they may or may not come with the part (mine did not, Valeo replacement part from eEuroparts.com). One 900 I've pulled had great bushing, others were shot, so it may be luck and usage as to whether you need to order new ones.
It goes without saying that you really need to remove the hood for this procedure.
It also goes without saying that you should invest in a Bentley manual if you have not done so already. Great reading and pictures. Instills confidence.
Disclaimer : I am not a mechanic, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, and just did this job (plus thermo and a couple of hoses) last week. Made a HUGE difference.
