I don't disagree with Doug, but I have found a slightly easier method for doing CV boots, and it applies to both 900s and 9000s. All you really do different is to "unload" the A-arm with brake pads or hopefully the official Saab tool, then pull the LOWER ball joint bolts out (and probably disconnect the lower shock bolt). Then clip the CV boot bands. Leave the inner CV alone, no need to mess with it. Take off the CV boot (with a knife), then dig the grease out of the CV joint and find that crazy little clip, and if you have not gotten it already, get one of those spring clip expander tools, and with two hands spread the clip, and with your 3rd hand (!), pull the hub assy outward and hopefully after a few tries it will go "pop" and they will separate. The trick is to keep the axle in the inner CV joint while pulling the hub outward to separate the two. I have used a large Vise Grips in the past on the axle for a 3rd hand to keep it in the inner joint. You'll see. The reduces your disassembly time as you do not have to do all the ball joint bolts nor remove the caliper. I ahve done it many times and it has worked well. Get plenty of specific CV joint grease (NAPA has it) and clean out the joint (esp if yours got dirt in it) and you should be OK. If yours got really dirty, you may have to do a whole tear down, and then the previous message will apply.
Good luck!
