who specializes in broken stud and tap removal. At a minimum expect to remove the manifold from the head. If the stud has any of it sticking up it can be removed by basic technics. Heat is the best. Use an ox/acetelene (NOT PROPANE-not hot enough) to heat the remainder of the stud RED hot(not the head). Take a break while it cools. 99 times out of a 100 it will come right out. The machinist you will want if this is not an option will have an 'electrosatic discharge erroder'. The is basicallly a spark plug on a micrometer that will remove a specificic part from another one molecule at a time. sounds slow, but a 3/8 by 1/2 stud will errode in about 25 to 30 minuites, so the 8mm exhaust stud will take longer to set up than remove. Way quicker than removing a head, and cheaper than a head gasket set!
