I have the factory taper pin removal tool. I have had very good luck with it. Although I must admit that mine is a "little bent". Had a stubborn pin one day. Most times I've used an air hammer to drive the pin out. No matter what tool I've used the threads on the end of the pin get damaged. I've always installed a new pin.
A little note on the factory tool situation. I used to be a parts person for a SAAB dealer. Before GM took over all tools were ordered through SAAB's warehouse. Tool availability wasn't a problem. After GM took over the tools were turned over to Kent-Moore. Kent-Moore takes a long time to deliver tools. The dealer I worked for was always late on paying bills. If the account was overdue Kent-Moore required C.O.D. There goes ordering tools. Another problem could be a particular dealers policy. They maynot choose to sell factory tools to the general public. Kent-Moore is a major supplier of special tools to General Motors. Anyone can order Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Olds etc tools from Kent-Moore. However for some reason SAAB and Kent-Moore have an agreement not to sell SAAB tools to the general public. SAAB is now fully owned by GM. Why can't SAAB owners order tools direct ?
