A few years back I was driving along I-95 when a horrible sound overhead snapped me to attention. A quick look in the rearview revealed a guy on a beautiful BMW K bike swerving abruptly as my sun roof fell to earth nearly missing his head a few hundred yards behind. Inspection revealed that the three screws holding the outer portion of the sunroof had loosened considerably allowing moving air to makes its way underneath. Essentially it created a sail which actually tore the sheet around the screws causing it to break free. Fortunately the guy on the bike had a decent sense of humor.
Come to think of it the car was actually a loner from Rum's Saab Repair who happens to be a hack out of Orange, MA. Had the car on loan because his mechanic decided to use my car to pick himself up a sandwich and drove head on into an on uncoming car. Turns out neither of the mechanics opted to tell me about the accident which caused close to $3000.00 in damage to my vehicle according to the police report. Guess they figured a new paint job was adequate compensation and unfortunately I didn't take them to task.
Moral of the story is if you choose to take a loaner from a shop that would do 3K in damage and neot tell you you may want to look over the vehicle before you drive off. Oh yeah the CV joint went on the loaner while I had it.
