I've been running my '90 900n/a just north of Denver for the past 4 yrs (& previous owner south of Denver for 6 yrs before that) with 10W30. Due to oil consumption, I just switched to Mobil 1 15W50 & don't expect any problems this winter. But I'm "down here." If you're moving to the mountains (Aspen, Vail, etc.), I'd probably suggest Mobil 1 0W40 (or Mobil Delvac 1 5W40 if you don't mind the extra ZDP in your cat) for lots of sub-zero startups on an older turbo, especially if you're not garaged. I switched tranny oils about 2 yrs ago from 75w gear oil to BG Synchro Shift when I had some hi-temp-related shift problems.
Also, I've been running 195/60's (BFGs seem to give me the best all-year-round compromise for what & where I drive), but 185/65's will give you better snow & slush traction.
