Sold the 90 na auto 140,000. Bought a 93 na auto 101,000. Oil light flickers when temp gauge is at 1/2 and car is idling, AAARGH!, happened on the way home from transfering the title. Didn't happen the two times I test drove the car. PO says he thinks idle is two low... light goes out above 1000 rpm even when hot. Engine seems strong at high revs. no knocking etc. at idle. Ari et al have posted before that the oil pressure should be checked, I plan to beg/borrow a pressure gauge, but am wondering about some issues.
-Head gasket changed at dealer 1500 miles ago, plugs, oil and filter changed then, should I change the oil now?
-this '93 runs hotter than my (just sold)'90 which had the lower temp fan switch, Should I put the same lower temp fan switch in the 93? Will it make a difference with the oil.
- Should I just replce the sender? Anyone know the price.
- What determnes the idle speed on a '93? On the '90 I had to clean the AIC and replace the AMM to get the idle to come down and stay steady, what prevents the engine from idling to low?
- did I screw up bad by buying this '93?
Thanks for any info and or help. Without this board I would never have been able to resurect the '90 and keep it for 40,000 miles.
