When putting the front cover back on, the oil pick up tube needs to be centered to get back into cover. Did you replace the o-ring on tube too?
What year is the car? If the car is older than 83, the oil pump housing doesn't have any dowel pins to line up the housing. These dowel pins was removed on pre 83 cars due to a Saab bulletin.
Some Saab tech even removed the pins on later cars due to misunderstandment of the bulletin.
If the two dowel pins are missing, you need a special centering tool that fits snug onto crank shaft and in oil pump housing (with crank seal removed)to align oil pump housing, otherwise the oilpump is not gonna perform properly.
