I hated that last bolt when I did my 94 C900TC CE's tranny flush. I'll put her in 3rd when she gets a drain and fill next year. Actually, I'll probably forget and get p.o.'ed again.
Here's a question for you, though. My 90 SPG has a drain plug on the bottom. I seem to think that plug went away in 91 or 92. Why doesn't your 89 have one? Was the tranny replaced, maybe? Mine is a 12 MM hex plug on the bottom of the tranny case.
As for your fear of crossthreading. I've always started bolts in my hand to avoid this. Don't rush the job, and don't force the bolt and you should be golden.
How do you like the new fluid?
