If I were in the market for another C900, I would only consider 1990 - 1993 (1990 - 1994 for the convertible). There really isn't anything wrong with the years prior to 1990, but I prefer the technological advances and extra safety features offered on the later models. I would stay away from an automatic tranny and go for the turbo. I had a normally-aspirated 900 several years ago. What they say is true...once you own a turbo, you won't ever want to go back. I probably spoiled myself too early in the game, but that's beside the point. These cars are built like tanks and are very dependable with the correct up-keep and routine maintenance. After all, take a look at the mileage on my current C900. E-mail me and I will give you a link to the complete list of records for my 900 since day one so you can get a better idea of what will be necessary. Just be sure to get the car inspected and checked out prior to purchase, ask lots of questions, and know the history of the car. Also, be sure to check for rust. I'm sure others will offer plenty of suggestions. Good luck, drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
