My bit of warning Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Fri, 3 Sep 2004 05:56:39 In Reply to: car cover, Chuck, Thu, 2 Sep 2004 15:14:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'll give you a bit of warning. Don't put a car cover on a dirty car. Be careful if you live/park in a sandy/dusty area. Make sure the car cover is always clean.
Car covers sit right on the paint. Yes, the right ones are very soft. However, if you put a cover on a dusty/dirty car, wind will have that very soft cover grind the sand and dust into the paint. If the inside of the cover isn't kept very clean, it can also destroy the paint.
Don't ask how I know. My negligence of a dusty car cover chewed right through the paint on my '67 Sonett.
Another car cover point - on rainy days, or if you live in an area where you get a lot of morning dew, you end up with a very wet car cover. Keep that in mind - you'll need to fold it without getting yourself too wet, and need to find a place to put it. And usually it doesn't dry out fast.
I'm not against car covers - just be aware of some of the issues with them.
