Because this board moves so fast - I cut and pasted a my previuos and new message below.......
My 1987 900T all is getting extreme poor gas mileage - checked all hoses, cleaned contacts, chaged plugs, replaced air filter all to no avail. It also hesitates even on the highway when pushed. I think that it may be the oxygen sensor but I don't want to start replacing things if their good. The only test I did was, with the car warm and idling I removed the Oxygen sensor fuse but nothing hapened - did not notice any change in idle. How does one check the oxygen sensor?
** the car starts good with no pulsing idle.
MORE ON POOR MILEAGE--Used to get approx 25 mpg combined hwy/city -- then a couple of weeks ago just droped to approx 6 to 10 mpg. Callipers good , tire pressure set at 34 psi - even did a compresion test with results 145 psi-145psi-134psi-145psi , obviously one cylinder is lower then the others. Don't want to fool around with adjusting AMM because it worked fine so far --ALSO last October did a clean air test and the results were great - the tech said that the results were better then even most late model cars - this tell me that all the electronics were optimum a few months ago. ------- COULD it be the cold start swith? Does it complete the circuit or open when hot ?
