Okay, so I posted a message months' ago asking about the largest tire that would fit on the '93 900T convertible while keeping the stock suspension. I went out and purchased Bridgestone Potenza G009 in 205/50-16 from TireRack and mounted them on '98 9000CSET Super Ultra Aero rims I got off eBay.

While installing them on the 900, I did the driver's front first then looked at the front head-on. A noticeable increase in height is what I saw when compared to the pass. side that still had the oem 195/60-15 on it. The same held true when I did the rears and visually compared.

What's up with that? According to the tire calculator website, the oem wheel has a diameter of 24.2", a sidewall of 4.6", and a circumference of 76.1", whereas the new wheel has the same readings as 24.1", 4.0", and 75.6", respectively. Why is the car sitting higher now? It should be sitting exactly where it was before, if not unnoticeably lower.

I also notice the new wheels stick out slightly from the wheelwells. Does this mean I'm supposed to be using the SPG body panels and fender lips to extend the overall look of the body to accept this new size tire?

I am very disheartened right now. I thoroughly enjoyed how the car sat and handled previously, and now it sits higher and really does not give any better handling. I recently replaced all front and rear suspension parts (shocks, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends), so it has nothing to do with that.

I did something similar on my '98 9000CSET 2 years' ago by going from oem 205/55-16 to 225/50-16. This made a remarkable improvement in handling and looks, and the car already came stock with Aero suspension. I was hoping for something the same with what I did on the 900.

Any thoughts?
