RS gave good advice. If things are stuck set it up off the bench on a few blocks and tap the "piston" with a wooden block. Biggest o-ring seals aluminum back to main slave body. O-rings inside and outside hardened steel piston seal it to main body and to inner sleeve. Clean it all well. I used isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush to rinse it all, then 600 grit or finer Tri-M-Ite paper to polish dried on brake fluid and corrosion off the surfaces. There was some rust out near the tip of the steel piston but not near any sealing surface; I wire brushed it and sanded the inside with coarser sandpaper.
Clean it all up well; use brake assembly lube or brake fluid on o-rings and inner surfaces on reassembly. Pull bleeder screw out and brush any sand off it before reinstalling it.
Your trouble pulling the clutch is probably because the bucket handle isn't the full 4 mm - .161" size of the Saab tool that holds the pressure plate fully depressed. Either get the Saab tool and, to install it, jack the pressure plate released on the ground under a heavy vehicle's frame or bumper, or be prepared for an equally tough time on reassembly.
