...I will not drive a car without A/C (except for my Sonett - which was given to me). On a hot rainy day, you will fog up like crazy, and Saabs like to fog up around me. Others may have different experiences. I don't like to be hot, and I hate to fog over my windshield. 2 reasons I restored the A/C in my convertible. The A/C bracket also assists in engine lifting and removal.
The other people's point is that by removing the A/C, many repairs are easier, there is a weight reduction, and some people think it looks cooler. In a 3500 lb car, I don't see an advantage to removing maybe 70 lb.s of weight. If you wish to upgrade your intercooler, it is easier to upgrade to an FMIC (front mounted intercooler) with the A/C condenser removed, as the space available for the intercooler is better. Some people feel that a Saab classic A/C with R134 isn't very good. I agree that it doesn't blow freezing cold like R12, but it is good enough on an 80-90 degree day.
Hope this is a good answer showing both sides of the story.
