Chipped exhaust valve - desperately need advice

As you can read on my post below, the 3rd cylinder on my 85 8v Trubo went dead. Pulling the head revealed chipped (burned?) exhaust valve. Virtually no damage to the cylinder was done, only little material stuck on the top 1/5" of the wall.
Now, I ask you - what could cause the valve to disintegrate? BEFORE I pulled the head I checked the cam timing again. Zero mark on the flywheel lines up with the plastic line and the sprocket "triangle" mark lines up almost directly above the cam bearing mark. Before the HG replacement the car pulled like crazy to the redline. After that it started to sputter and loose power when under high load. Boost gauge trembled back and forth.
If you would look at the photos I took and tell me what you think.
PS. I have poured some gasoline in each cylinder and it would drop level very very slowly (after half an hour neither of them was near empty)
