There used to be a rolling 30 year old exemption, but that was suspended a year or two ago. No chance this car will ever be smog exempt... No antique registration, either, for cars this new - I think it's either 50 or 60 years old...
I'm not worried about it passing smog - a 2.4-powered 16v is a pretty clean car - it's just a matter of setting aside the time to get it done. There is only one place that can do it, and getting there is tough.
I'm still not even sure I want to sell it, I'm just kinda doing some research at this point. 5-doors are rare things - probably the rarest of all at this point (like 3,000 imported 26 years ago...) - so I know it's worth something to someone, but I think agree with other sentiments here that finding that person would be a challenge.
I don't think I would even sell it for $800... Sadly, I'd probably part it out before then. The wheels & lights are worth more than that! I think I'll reiterate "argh." :)
