On my '89, the seal for the spline shaft (takes steering input from the steering wheel) leaked like a drunken sailor. (Maybe that's not the best analogy, but you know what I mean.)
But, seriously, that was the trouble spot in mine and replacing the rack cured that.
Some guys have posted that they had leaks at the power steering pump supply hose (the large one) where it enters the pump - PS fluid was leaking through the inner ply of the hose and dribbling out through the reinforcement cords. They slowed it by putting an extra hose clamp at the pump and tightening both of them well.
