battery relocation, the results....(long)

Car: 1985 900t sedan, with Jak's mod'd Mitsu turbo and custom 3" down pipe.
Relocated the battery to pass trunk using Summit style kit. Used 20' cable to run plus/red side from battery to starter. Used old pos/red cable to connect back upto pos dist block on pass fender from starter. Ran 4' ned/black cable to rear seat belt mount. Left old neg/black cable as-is.
Car started and ran so I moved on. In the ensuing couple of days trouble. The idle has progressively gotten worse, rolls up/down and now stalls at stop light. This morning battery dead.
I'm assuming the neg/black cable to rear seat belt is insufficient. I'll get another 20' length of welding wire.
Where to run the neg/black cable to ensure good battery recharge and stable 12v on LH ecu?
TIA,
Ed S
