Hans is correct that bad ECU's are quite rare. As he states, the only remotely common failure is an inability to eneragize the fuel pump (mostly on the 89 turbo ecu). When this happens the car just doesn't run. When you think about it, the ECU is really one of the most sheltered and robust peices of equipment on the car- solid state electronics sealed in a metal box inside the passenger compartment away from heat and moisture. That said, i know that there too many shops out there who seem to want to replace them (at great expense) given the smallest sign of trouble.
Similarly, the C900 fuel injectors are one part of the car that almost never go bad or show any sign of degraded performance. Typically they will go the entire life of the car (300,000 miles +) with out problem or need for service of any kind. I've personally never seen a bad one. that doesn't stop chain automotive shops from wanting to "clean" your injectors or flush your fuel system to improve performance- certainly a dubious claim and likely a waste of money.
This is not to say that injectors and ECUs can't go bad -they do- its ust that they tend to be way down the list of possible causes when trouble arises. Give us a little information about your problem and perhaps we can track it down to a less expensive part and save you some time and money.
