Hello there,
I had the lower instrument panel off yesterday in an attempt to get my floor vents to start working again. All of my other vents work, and I am 99.99% positive my heater switch works. Now, When looking down there, I discovered that tube #6 from the heater switch was connected to the servo to the right of the center area just fine, and that it moved the bar that opens and closes the vent just fine when the dist. switch was moved to the appropriate positions. Now the mystery - tube six is supposed to be for the right floor vent according to bentley, and tube 5 is supposed to be for the left floor vent. I discovered tube 5 lying disconnected off to the right of the lower area with a little plug in the end of it(presumably to preserve the heater switch vacuum). Now my question - where is the servo that tube 5 goes to? I couldn't find it for some reason, and thought that it might be in a similar position to servo 6 on the other side. Also, if servo 6 is working, shouldn't the right floor vents be working, or does it have to function in tandem with servo 5?
My guess is that someone disconnected it to avoid having to fix a broken #5 servo, but I want to get this all functional.
Also, it looks like the number five tube might have been plugged from the factory (I know another c900 owner who had this tube plugged with the same clear plastic plug). Is there another reason why the floor vents might not be working? The servo obviously works, but could the flap be jammed or something?
It was 12 degrees here today. Brrrr!
