i do tend to like to work on and/or drive the saab.
in the picture the top shaft is eeuroparts bottom is oem
i really don't know what someone would say if they wanted to find a new tripod for the eeuro axle in later days to come, if someone says they need a tripod for the 900 saab they would get the oem shafts.
i had tossed my passenger side oem shaft about a week ago thinking the eeuro passenger side is good and would not have a problem.
when time comes to replace the tri-pod on the eeuro shaft i`ll have to find a pick and pull and hunt for a 900 in the yard and pull the passenger side axle just to get the oem shaft.
and yes it is of the tri-pod end and both shafts do not have the outer cv connected to them.
putting the eeuro at 17&half and 18 for the oem.
if you happened to get a set of these axles just know in time to come to look for a replacement oem shaft just to get parts to fit.
the best way to get back to oem set up would be a pick n pull (grave yard)
im sure ordering the axle from saab,.. that is if one can find it.
im sure it would be 300 buxs per shaft, junk yard 30 buxs for the hole axle, remember to pull the axles all that needs to be done is,
unbolt axle nut
unbolting the lower control arm from the lower ball joint,
and grab hold of the steering knuckle and pull out and back towards the tie-rod arm, it will give enough room to slip the axle out.
wait let me get a pic of my car,.... 1 sec....
this is looking from front of car just under front bumper.
at a pick and pull the wheels should be off the car, as you can see in the back ground the tie rod bolt is loose however i couldn't get the arm up, and didn't want to wreck the ball joint trying so i grabbed the knuckle and pulled it back towards the tie-rod with it still attached to the knuckle,
and the axle was able to slip out.
at a pick n pull there would be no need to pull the tie-rod, thinking it would be so rusted on no one would be able to loosen it.
but its good the axle can be pulled with just the loosing of three bolts.
quick and easy.
