I just had this same problem on my '90 SPG. It has under 100k. To test, get up to highway speed and then accelerate moderately. You should feel the shake on acceleration.
There's a high probability that it's that passenger side driver cup. These take a lot of heat from the exhaust. Make sure that you use the highest temperature wheel bearing grease you can find in that driver. I used some pink Amsoil synthetic grease. Don't use the grease that comes with the inner boots. Townsend Imports has had luck with regular old Castrol wheel bearing grease, but I really think that the high temp stuff is important here.
It doesn't take much wear to cause the symptoms you are describing. Inner driver cups are no longer available. The inner driver tripods (the rollers on needle bearings that fit inside the cups) are still available. You'll have to find a used inner driver cup. I've heard that the dealers might still stock some that are somehow rebuilt. You can also swap the drivers from passenger to driver side, but that's extra work so I just found a used replacement for my passenger side driver. Make sure you re-use the original shims.
It's wonderful that your wife bought the car for you. Hopefully she can put up with the effort it will take to restore! Is it red or black?
