i didnt mess with the flywheel or the engine seal Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Sat, 22 Mar 2008 15:42:21 In Reply to: Re: Would you wanna only just replace the slave or ..., DivrDon [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 22 Mar 2008 14:59:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
i did the clutch shaft seal (mine was leaking)
but to tell you the truth, the clutch plate i pulled out of the car looked to have virtually no ware, with a little soap and water im sure it would look good as new. the thickness of my old clutch plate was the same as the new one perhaps 2/16th was wore off.
if i would of known how well my clutch plate looked i would of seriously reconsidered buying new.
but im sure in the end i would of spent the extra 300 bux for the new plates just for the comfort if not anything else.
the purchase from eeuro has the throwout bearing along with the slave for approximately 60 buxs, i could go and look at the exact price but thats just to many buttons to push.
only way i would just do the slave (with throwout) and clutch shaft seal (only if it was leaking) if money was real real tight.
if being the clutch plate still looks good.
then your only looking to spend 60 buxs, for a d.i.y`er
going high performance in the clutch & flywheel, ... well i found bad feed back on it.
being the extra 1/8 of a sec or so the high performance clutch would give on the road would hardly be seen, (getting a short shifter for much less would be more worth while)
and the lightened flywheel, it would give a noticeably quicker take off but the down fall is, if its installed in a daily driver (car) it wouldn't be long before the flywheel would warp.
but to use the flywheel on a car just for racing and not for street its well worth the money.
on a side note: being i never took off the flywheel to get it resurfaced when i did the clutch change it caused a small shutter on take off for the first 25,000 miles of the new clutch.
now the shutter is gone.
just know i dont try to race every car that pulls up beside me, even though i have the mods to beat it.
i will only attempt to go head to head with a car that is more than capable of beating me in a blink of an eye, and my car must be running 100%
as in all plugs firing, no bad gas, not hitting base boost, no premature wast-gate dumping before hand, and the most important one is a clear road in front of me, why build the boost just to dump it.
but in the end its really the driver, all the mods in the world can be installed but miss a gear and its over, take for example this dainty guy sitting in this black beast, perhaps it was a stick, modded to the max and i just out shifted him all the way to 5th, just know once i hit 5th i was gone, if i remember right dainty dude still had another shift for 6th,
& to set it off,.. i was using mods, im sure this dainty guy was running stock.
(just left the dealership and was beat by a cold hart-ed monster that just so happened to be the little she devil im driving.
lol.....lol ....... lol.....
