not to be-labour the point but perhaps someone can answer a couple of questions:
why is that ATs in similarly priced vehicles of this vintage - Volvo for example - all had a fourth gear OD? pure and simple cost? or maybe there was an engineering/ design issue? You would have thought that by the time that later model Convertible was rolling out in the late 80s early 90s a 4 speed AT would have been fitted.
what is the actual age/lineage of the BW 37? Doesn't it trace its roots back to the 60s - I think our Renault 16 of 1969 had the identical transmission in it (also as a side note I have an air conditioner here made by Borg Warner).
