I would do a compression check before the intake gasket. A vacuum leak would almost always cause a higher idle. Check your intake for leaks by spraying carb cleaner all around the junction between the head and intake manifold. A change in idle speed would point out where the leak is. Also spray around the injectors to check the o-rings that seal the injectors in their manifold holes. You also might disconnect the injectors one at a time to see if there is a variation between injector performance. The engine should run equally crappy on any of the 3 remaining injectors.
