Thanks for the support Bri. I am the father of said SGS, and he is currently stranded in El Paso, IL. He does have access to a garage via a retired friend of his grandmother. He is close to central IL, but not sure how close to you and he's not very mobile at the moment. I believe he spent most of yesterday limping from Beloit down to El Paso. I will call the boy once he awakes (sleeps like your typical student) and per nicknick recommendation, pull the dist. cap off and see if the rotor is damaged.
I've done quite a lot of 900 wrenching since 2000, and auto in general for 30 years, but I can't connect retarded timing (overheating/low power) with the other symptom of wild boosting way into the red.....the only common denominator is if the APC controller is fried, calling for simultaneous HIGH boost and commanding the LH unit to pull back timing (knock protection). After pulling my graying hair out for a couple days, that is the only plausible theory I can develop.
Thanks again!
