Understood. Presuming the vac. capsule is dead, I'm wondering if he can disc. the vac.line, advance the static timing to a point where the car is drivable (offset the retard). Chances of him finding a used DIST. in central IL on a Sunday...like a lightening strike hit.
FWIW the static timing checked out yesterday at idle, vac. connected. When in boost condition, I'm presuming the LH controls the advance since the vacuum is gone (positive pressure). Most "old school" distributors I've worked on have both mechanical advance (centrifugal) and vacuum for cruising. It seems this one is strictly vacuum or LH controlled advance, no mechanical system.
Short of overnighting him the dist. from my 90T, I'm looking for an escape strategy, today.
