Losing Antifreeze fast

I have a 1991 900T that all of the sudden today lost a lot of antifreeze after driving it 20 minutes and parking for 1 hour. Came out to find roughly 8 oz. or so of antifreeze on the ground. I drove home 15 minutes after adding about 6 oz of water which did not bring it back even near full, not even able to see anything in the reservoir. So, probably lost more than 8 oz. I kept an eye on the temp. gauge but did not see it get too hot on drive home. Before leaving and while idling in the parking lot, it didn't seem to be leaking. At home I parked it with some cardboard underneath and within 20 minutes there was another 8 oz or so of antifreeze that had leaked out.
Any suggestions on where these leaks typically develop. Am I safe filling it with antifreeze to get to work and keeping some in the trunk for the ride home until I can get it looked at? Any harm other than overheating by running it with too little antifreeze?
Thanks in advance!
