flat spotting tires

My 91se convertible seems to have eternal ABS problems. The ABS pump was not working, which was known, and I use extra foot pressure to make up for the brake boost.
I had to stop fairly quick for a herd of deer, not a panic stop, but still urgent, and the ABS distribution block valves decided one tire would be good to brake. So I made about an 80' skid with one tire, then I reapplied the brakes hoping for different results and another tire locked up and left 20' of skid on the road.
This left two tires slightly flatspotted. I thought it was something that happened only to racers on soft slicks, but apparently it's pretty easy to do. At low speeds, there is a slight thumping, but it goes away at higher speed.
Now, I'm going to get some braking system work done. If the ABS distribution valve goes crazy, and decides to send all pressure to one tire, it doesn't take much pedal pressure to lock up a wheel. It's sort of a stepwise modulation. You can't control exact braking pressure as required on pre-abs or sport oriented abs cars. It's junk. I'm either going to get some parts from a wreck installed or junk the abs system and go to a 1989 braking setup I think.
