Alvaro,
At only 169,000 miles it would be prudent to replace the pinion bearings while it's out. Given your description you may not need anything more than that and of course gaskets and seals. I've found that in casually driven, well maintained cars, most of the rest of the bearings in there will usually last until the second rebuild. If it's a pre-1989 transaxle then you should look closely at the layshaft and needle bearing at the small end of the cluster gear, those often have significant wear and you may find that the 1-2 shift fork is worn and needs replacing. Check the synchro balk rings to see how deep they lay in the slider and look for other obvious wear or damage. If they sit high in the slider and grip the cone on the gear well without bottoming then they shouldn't need replacing.
Of course you can do the "spare no expenses" approach if you like and do all the bearings, 5 balk rings, etc., etc. but it sounds like you have a pretty good gearbox there. Your early service manual should be OK to get you through, what year is you car? You can rebuild the transaxle with NONE of the Saab special tools if that's your situation but some of them are very helpful. You will need a hydraulic press, 2-5 tons is plenty big enough. Use high strength Loctite on the three shaft nuts and put all the shims precisely back where they came from (replace any damaged ones with new ones from Saab). Good luck
