alternator brush change Posted by Tom G [Email] (#1951) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Tom G) on Thu, 5 Mar 2009 04:32:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Light came on, so I knew I had to change the brushes. I checked the ground wire first, but it is never the easy fix.
This is what I used:
#1 phillips bit
1/4 inch wrench (to hold the bit for the screw near the oil filter)
vice grips (couldn't break them free)
mirror
pb blaster
I got lucky and was able to change the brushes without removing my alternator.
Also, eEuroparts, a site sponsor, was awsome, parts arrived the next day.
Took me a couple of hours from start to finish.
My cost was $25 for the brush set and a couple hours of time.
Too bad the alternator wasn't rotated 180 degrees, would be easier.
