Want to add a keyless entry. Posted by Bob_SAAB_101 [Email] (#460) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bob_SAAB_101) on Wed, 3 Jun 2009 13:27:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
94 vert, in middle of auto to manual conversion.
Since I have my interior ripped out I noticed that the previous owner has installed some sort of alarm system and placed the brain in the center console. It is wired into the keylocks and the door lock button. I have no idea if it works but I don't like alarms anyway (disable yes, alarm no)
I bought a keyless unit on the Bay and thought I could just wire it up to the door lock switch in the console. A quick look in the archives and I don't see anyone using this method. Is there something I'm not thinking of.
The unit I bought has 3 programmable switches.
The plan is to:
1. Wire up the door lock switch to the momentary Keyless relay. Is this a grounded connection on the console switch?
2. Set up a relay to the fuel pump relay to disable Fuel. I'd probably install some sort of bypass, just in case.
3. Maybe a momentary connection from the keyless entry to the driver's window.
Here is the old unit.
