Attaching engine to transmission Posted by Bob_SAAB_101 [Email] (#460) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bob_SAAB_101) on Sun, 21 Jun 2009 08:34:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Doing my auto to manual conversion on my 94, 2.1 vert.
The transmission I got had no engine to transmission bolts. Can I use the ones from the automatic? I thoguht I read somewhere on the forum that the bolts were different but I can't find the reference anymore.
I also thought it might be useful to add a light coat of anaerobic sealant to both sides of the gasket and mating surfaces> is this worth the trouble? I figure it's not under pressure there so it might not be needed, in fact the autobox didn't even have sealant at the gasket groove.
On the issue of sealant on gaskets, should I use any sealant on the valvecover gasket? I have a new one from eEuro.
I dove in and changed the rear crankshaft seal. I had to heat a screwdriver to stick it through the rubber and pry out. I used the 4" shower drain method to put it on, worked like a charm, real easy. I can't see anyone buying the hundred dollar tool.
Any other things I should take care of? (other than changing the oil suck tube to the manual transmission one?)
