check other things before the expensive repair Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Thu, 17 Sep 2009 10:30:16 In Reply to: Re: Inner Driver Shake, third gear prob, KB900psi, Thu, 17 Sep 2009 09:05:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
reason i mention this is you shouldnt have the vibration at cruising speed, usually its just on acceleration in the lower gears ie 1 or 2.
If you are having higher speed stumble, i bet your fuel pressure regulator is shot! That 's a cheap fix.
otherwise check to make sure your other vacuum - related components are not leaking. I just fixed my low rpm stumble by re-sealing the charcoal canister valve (thanks Justin VA for the RTV suggestion). Also hooter valve, vacuum advance, brake booster, dash vacuum line, vacuum reservoir line should be checked.
Re engine mounts, pop the hood up and while sitting behind the wheel, watch the engine as you let out the clutch repeatedly and quickly (but not completely) to see if the motor is moving laterally or longitudinally (front motor mount shot if motor is bucking like a horse).
usually PS motor mount goes before DS because motor presses down on to PS mount when you let the clutch out. if the engine motor mount bracket is essentially laying on the lower mount bracket (you cant see any of the motor mount rubber) then the PS side mount is shot. There should be a 1 inch or so gap between the brackets.
