I've found that most C900 transmissions work just fine with 10-30 or 10-40 motor oil. That being said, our 89 turbo convertible never shifted into second properly. It didn't grind, but it was always bulky, especially when it was cold. I tried Redine MTL, and it made the problem almost disappear! It is still somewhat bulky on the cold mornings, but it is many magnitudes better than it was.
I have no experience with the Honda stuff, but I can tell you the Redline MTL made a difference. Amazon sells it.
