a tab to start, then work your way around, levering up a little bit at a time. it will scratch the column a little as it comes up, but nothing too bad. if you're careful, you can reuse your existing retaining ring.
should you break it, the saabsite sells them, but you have to buy five, and shipping is horrendous for such a small item.
when you have it apart, don't forget to put a little grease on the bearing to help keep that lubricated.
on the clockspring, what sometimes happens is the backing plate breaks off from the pins that locate it/hold it on. you can glue it back on if you're careful with the adhesive.
make sure you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the airbag otherwise you'll trip the SRS light and that requires a Tech II or shop visit to reset usually.
