Well, I don't know where else to put it...
Get yourself some crimp connectors that allow you to put the connector on the terminal in the light assembly, AND connect another wire. The new connector is crimped onto the wire from the 7-4 adapter box. The "piggyback faston" (link & image below) slips onto the lamp contact flag, and the car wire connects onto the extra flag on the crimp connection.
You are getting the 7-4 adapter with the separate power lead, right? That prevents the trailer lights from taking out the car lights due to a short in the trailer wiring. More costly than the "normal" type, but well worth it. You can tell by the extra lead that has to be connected to +12 volts at all times, and is fused.
