I spent a great deal of time working on the gap issue. The best combination that I found was 205/55/16 with a rear axle relocate kit, and adjustable springs. Even the 205/50/16 doesn't eliminate the need for the relocate modification if the car is lowered -- the 45 series may curtail the need for a relocate kit if the car isn't lowered, my personal preference to "fill" the wheel wells with the 55 series forced that to be part of the solution. And to minimize the gap, and the wheel fit the wheel well, you have to lower the car, and relocate the rear axle in order for uniformity to be achieved.
The Aero wheel weighs about the same as a stock alloy rim, but the Super Aero is heavier. If Slyde had a Super Aero wheel installed, that could have accounted for the sluggish or heavy feel. But, there could have been a bunch of things contributing to that as well.
