SPG-what can be removed? sorry long. Posted by Mike in KC [Email] (#1679) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike in KC) on Mon, 11 Jul 2011 12:47:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On my 90'SPG, she's bit of a beater, 195k, some rust in fenders, floor repaired, buts was pretty bad, but runs good. I'm using the car for winter driving mainly. AC is bad and needs almost everything replaced after 21 + years, so removing all related AC parts to make room for larger intercooler and larger oil cooler. 3 questions I have are; 1- Can I remove the spring covered metal tubing from the exhaust manifold going over to a dashpot under the throttle body? Not sure what this does, I assume it senses exhaust temp and adjusts idle? - it's always in the way of the clutch inspection cover. 2- I have the chronic fuel smell in the cabin and have replaced the fuel o-rings for both the pump and sender units and have looked for cracks in the filler tube with no sign of leaks. I'm suspecting a clogged fuel cannister or the line to the cannister or breach in the line, does this line run thru the roof or the floor area of the cabin? 3 -a small tubular shaped cannister approx 6-8" long with vacuum hoses thats sits on top of radiator left of coil, what is this for? Trying to simplify the engine compartment.
