1. engine tick. I just picked up a 85T that sat for months. took quite a few minutes for the lifters to settle down. The 85-87 engines have oil feed tubes on top of the camshafts. They are mounted in small plastic pedestals that deteriorate with heat/time. If the tick continues check the plastic for cracks or loose fit.
3. I just did the clutch on my 85T and left the fans in place. The black plastic cover seems impossible to remove but it is remarkably flexible and will come out. There are many posts on how to remove the clutch when the slave is blown. My 85T had no material left on the disc so removal was similar to having no slave. It took about an hour longer.
4. valve cover gasket. Don't get the cheapest brand. I installed a cheapie and had leaks right away. It was poorly molded. Sealed the leak spots with Locktite 518. 20K later it is seeping in other areas.
