All OE hitches are the same geometries if they're the square receiver...
I saw a 92 900T that had that square receiver...the owner had cut the bumper as you describe...but it looked like he could have installed without the cutting. The bumper would have bent over the metal.
The OE circular receiver style (way cooler, btw) sits about 3/4 of an inch below the bumper without cutting.
All bumpers were the same on non-spg 87+ models, be it sedan or 3dr.
Happy Towing! I cannot say enough about SAABs and towing. great combo with the turbo too. I've traveled thousands of miles and hundreds of small trips with my 900T and 4x8 trailer, 1500lbs chock-full-o-crap. Only thing to be wary of is that the deck level on the trailer should closely match the hitch height...allows for better balanced handling, ease in visability, and
Highway speeds are a dream too...and the faces of either disgust or astonishment as you pass them is priceless.
The pic is a bit excessively loaded, but you get the idea...
