shortened too much when adjusting in an effort to get to the correct boost level . If it gets shortened too much then the apc system will no longer be able to do its job of bleeding off enough boost to keep the engine safe . This may cause you to have much bigger problems than you have now .
From what I understand many or most of the wastegate actuators on c900's have lost a lot of their tension at this point . The result is low boost . The second result is that if one follows the standard procedure for shortening the actuator rod in order to adjust (increase) the base boost to spec it is often necessary to shorten it so much to get to base boost that the wastegate can no longer open as much as it needs to . This would potentially be dangerous to your engines health . This is where the wastegate actuator helper spring comes in . Its not too difficult to set one up . I was able to get my base and max boost to spec with a helper spring . After installing a spring with the right amount of tension you can then use the actuator rod adjustment for fine tuning the base boost level . A new actuator is probably the best solution , but quite a few on this board have used a helper spring .
