Bypassed heater control valve yesterday.. Posted by K-Saab [Email] (#1142) [Profile/Gallery] (more from K-Saab) on Mon, 19 Mar 2012 03:46:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yesterday I soldered two 3/4 copper elbows & one stub pipe to make a home made bypass cuircut. I was fed up with the drip of the Scantech valve that I installed about seven years ago. The 3/4 elbows fit perfect. This is a casual use Saturday car in S. Texas, heat is rarely needed.
Discrepancies:
One poster here says to plug both hoses with pvc caps. The bentley shows the heater valve recirculating the coolant if heat is in the off position.
The Townsend site calls for the hose from the water pump to go to the top side of the heater control valve. The Bentley calls for coolant from the radiator to enter the heater control valve first. I trust the Bentley.
