PDP,
if you've got TWC installed then oxygen sensor is a must or you'll kill your cat pretty soon (if haven't yet). If you have removed TWC then... Well, I hate you (I'd copyright this!), but there's no wonder that a car can have a good performance w/o any o2 feedback. Your LH ECU isn't happy to see zero input on oxygen sensor channel, but it can live relatively well with some defaults which it started using after oxygen sensor had been removed.

Btw, even with oxygen sensor installed and electrically connected to ECU, the o2 sensor signal is masked out at WOT (wide-open throttle) and ECU switchs to a special pre-determined map w/o that feedback and we all live with that, but we don't use the engine at WOT all the time, do we?
