lowering tranny at junkyard Posted by markatl [Email] (#1833) [Profile/Gallery] (more from markatl) on Tue, 29 Jan 2013 06:16:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am pulling a tranny at a junkyard. Everything checks out great-the reverse idler is in very good condition and shifts in all gears. It is worth a try for $75. I have read many past posts on this process but have a few questions on lowering once I have it all disconnected minus a few bolts. We will not have a jack; we are planning to use a dolly to lower it onto along with some two by fours to adjust height. Does this sound plausible? .....or ......maybe a two by four across the top with ropes looped under to lower it down? .....any ideas?
Also, I dont have to disconnect the motor mounts do I?
thanks,
mark
