Understood, both points. I don't have the head off yet for the HG work....if it looks pitted from coolant damage, I'll likely take the head to my machinist. Of course, then for sure I'd have the seals changed.
Didn't get them with my gasket set as eEuro was apparently out of the full set so I ordered by the piece.
So no routine replacement. My old school understanding was that during periods of "high vacuum" at speed (throttle plate closed) that if the seals are worn out they will draw oil on the intake valve for sure, perhaps not as much on the exhaust side due to charge pressure exiting. Will proceed dependent upon the head condition.
