Rather than "unmetered air" (which would be intake air that enters the induction system but without going through the AMM, e.g. vacuum leak), it sounds like you're blowing out (under boost) metered air that doesn't make it to the engine. Like others have suggested, I would look at connections downstream of the compressor (compressor --> intercooler --> throttle body).
Also as others have said, the outlet connection (4904702) on the compressor is a likely culprit, and can split in such a way that it's difficult to see, and may cause an intermittent problem. I've burst a couple of those, and in one case things were fine until the boost came on, and then the split would open up and the air would be vented out to the engine compartment.
